Dick Smith appointed HBC Chairman

We have made some important changes within the management team here at HBC. As part of a succession plan, current Managing Director Dick Smith has become HBC’s Chairman.

The move follows Steve Hankins’ appointment as Managing Director designate in October last year. Having spent the past few months shadowing Dick, Steve has now taken over the full MD role. Until his planned retirement in February 2011, Dick will continue to be involved in strategic decisions for HBC to further develop HBC’s excellent reputation and spread across the country.

New engineering and claims management service

HBC has taken a bold step forward to become a one-stop-shop to allow our insurer partners to outsource their entire claims process. With a long and successful history in vehicle salvage across the UK, we are now pleased to announce the addition of a claims management service. As usual we collect and store vehicles, however, we now offer an additional service to undertake engineering and total loss settlements, as well as all the administration such as obtaining log books, keys etc and updating the MIAFTR register, before completion of the sale.

As Steve Hankins’ HBC managing director said “We’ve been providing part of this service for some time now. By adding the engineering and valuation services, we now offer our insurer partners, a single point of contact for all total losses with a far better customer journey experience.

He added “This service is popular as it saves insurers the resources and staff knowledge required to assess and value vehicles”.

New customer

Westminster Insurance (part of Tradex Insurance Company Ltd) has chosen HBC to exclusively deal with it's salvage. The 3 year deal follows a competitive tender between a number of providers and HBC clearly came out on top. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Westminster Insurance.

We’re off to Scotland!

We are also delighted to announce that long term insurer partner Admiral Insurance has expanded HBC’s remit to include Scotland. The move further enhances the already very strong and successful relationship between HBC and Admiral for vehicle collection in England, and involves the collection of vehicles across the entire breadth of Scotland.
